Regardless of the title, there will always be a separation between: software engineers that can make effective and reliable code vs. statisticians that can provide answers to corporate questions. The crossover between the two (ML) is a statistician that can can think and code “creatively” but not as high-quality as software engineers. The specialization of both fields is desirable, so that we can have the best statistics (the why) backed by the best software (the how).
